About the event
The Mid-Session Virtual Town Hall update will focus on a review of the first half of the legislative session--the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly -- as well as a look ahead to the second half.

Panelists:
- Rose Bender is Director of Research at the Montana Budget and Policy Center. Rose's research focus is state fiscal policy, advocating for a fair tax code that supports a robust state budget, so that Montana is a better place to live and work for everyone. Previously, she worked at the Montana Department of Revenue, serving as an economist/tax policy analyst, estimating impacts to state revenues and researching policy issues. Rose has also spent time as a community organizer in eastern Montana for Northern Plains Resource Council and as an economist for Ecosystem Research Group. She holds master's and bachelor's degrees in economics from the University of Montana. Rose grew up in Billings. She lives in Helena with her husband and two children.
- Rylee Sommers-Flanagan is founder and executive director of Upper Seven Law, a Montana-based nonprofit law firm dedicated to holding the powerful accountable. Rylee was Governor Bullock's deputy chief legal counsel, where she defeated the Trump campaign in election-related litigation and won two other cases against the administration. Rylee graduated from Stanford Law School, where she served as president of the Stanford student chapter of the American Constitution Society. She graduated magna cum laude from Emory University. There, she founded Emory's Day On, a service day in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King. She also has a creative writing degree from the University of St. Andrews. Rylee is a fifth generation Montanan who grew up in Missoula and spent summers on the family's working ranch in Absarokee.
- Margie MacDonald is lobbyist for Big Sky 55+ and served in the Montana State Senate from 2019-2021. Margie will wrap up the discussion with a highlight of Big Sky 55+ legislative priorities looking ahead.
- Big Sky 55+ Board Chair Terry Minow will moderate the discussion.
